Can you still buy Refinitiv Eikon?
No. Searchers still use the Eikon and Thomson Reuters names, but LSEG has retired both the Eikon product and the Refinitiv brand. New buyers should evaluate LSEG Workspace. Existing Eikon bookmarks, documentation and workflows may still appear online, which is why the distinction is easy to miss.
What replaced Eikon?
LSEG Workspace is the current workflow platform for professional market data, news, analytics and collaboration. LSEG says it provides Reuters News, customizable workflows, desktop and browser access, an iOS app, Workspace APIs and Office capabilities. Qualified users may also receive integrated news and commentary from Dow Jones brands.
The product remains aimed at institutions and professional teams rather than ordinary retail traders. It should be compared with Bloomberg Terminal and specialist institutional platforms, not low-cost consumer charting software.
How much does LSEG Workspace cost?
LSEG does not publish a universal list price for Workspace. Pricing is quote-based and can depend on the user’s role, datasets, exchange entitlements, region and required workflows. Historical Eikon price estimates should not be presented as the current Workspace price.
Ask LSEG for an itemized proposal that separates the base product, exchange data, specialist datasets, API access and additional users. This makes competing quotes easier to compare and exposes costs that a single monthly estimate can hide.
What former Eikon users need to migrate
Most users receive a modernized interface and access to the current Workspace ecosystem, but programmatic workflows deserve special attention. LSEG’s developer guidance says some older Eikon COM and Eikon 4 Desktop .NET interfaces require replacement. The Eikon Data API and newer Refinitiv or LSEG data libraries may continue to work in supported Workspace configurations.
Before migration, inventory Excel macros, COM automation, desktop-session scripts, saved screens, custom formulas and downstream systems. Confirm each dependency with the account team rather than assuming a desktop upgrade preserves every integration.
LSEG Workspace versus Bloomberg Terminal
Workspace competes on broad institutional data, Reuters News, research workflows, APIs and integration with office tools. Bloomberg remains especially strong where its terminal network, messaging and established desk workflows are decisive. The better choice depends on the content and collaboration a team actually uses.
